The trouble with conventional project management is that a lot of energy is put into the plan without regard for the way we make decisions. Project managers often claim that they always rationally analyse, plan, decide and monitor, but research shows that they mostly react using perception.

Edward de Bono, Dr. Harry Alder and other researchers propose that up to 80% of all thinking is perceptual. In other words, we reconcile each new data input with our internal maps of the world and then decide our action.
